Lahti is an excellent place to study, thanks to its close-knit student community, good transport links and short distances to the campus, city centre and places of interest. LOK + Lahden Talot is committed to provide students with comfortable and suitable homes that will keep them happy. Lahti has also made sure that every student has a home, right from the start of their studies.

Lahti has been voted one of the best cities for studying in Finland.

A close-knit student community and a vibrant campus

Lahti is home to three higher education institutions, the largest of which are LAB and LUT. Lahti Niemi Campus, which is a vibrant campus for all students of Lahti’s higher education institutions. The student community in Lahti is active and close-knit, and many events are organised.

The student house of Laatikkotehtaankatu is just next to the campus. The building is recognisable from afar by the colourful balcony windows that add a touch of flair to the facade. LOK + Lahden Talot has put a lot of effort into what’s important for students: the apartments are comfortable one- or two-bedroom units, and the street level has large communal club rooms where you can play pool or watch movies.

Nature is close by in Lahti and there are many places to do many different kinds of hobbies.

Sports facilities and jogging trails attract sporting enthusiasts

There are plenty of ways to stay active in Lahti. For example, Laune has an outdoor gym, jogging tracks in the central park, padel courts, a mini-golf course and arenas for many ball games. In Kiveriö, you can enjoy a swimming pool with an outdoor gym and nice little forest paths for running or walking the dog. The student apartments at Svinhufvudinkatu are a few minutes’ walk from the sports centre – perfect place to watch ice hockey, track events, and skiing in action.

The student house on Kivikatu in Laune will offer calm and private settings, with 27 studio apartments. The house is located only about three kilometres from the city centre, in a nice area called Keijupuisto, where you can find local shops, a flea market and several gyms. The Laune area also has a variety of leisure facilities nearby.

In the harbour area you will find nice restaurants, the Sibelius Hall and the characteristic student house of Borupinraitti.

The harbour area is the hidden gem of Lahti

Did you know that Lahti has a beautiful harbour area and a promenade along which you can jog in the beautiful shores of Lake Vesijärvi. There are many nice restaurants in the harbour area, as well as the student house of Borupinraitti.

In addition to the views of the shores of Lake Vesijärvi from their doorstep, the residents of the student house also enjoy the many services of the harbour area. The restaurants, the cultural offerings of the neighbouring Sibelius Hall and the forest paths of park Lanupuisto make Borupinraitti house one of the permanent favourites of our students. The journey from Borupinraitti to the campus area is easily covered on foot in less than 15 minutes – unless you stop for a refreshing swim at the Rantapuisto beach on the way! Lahti city centre with all its services is also less than a kilometre away. Borupinraitti student house has studio apartments.

The Laatikkotehtaankatu student house is located in the Niemi residential area, along the Kampusraitti and just a few hundred metres from the campus.
